The Kindergarten year is the third year of our three year program and is the final and most important stage where the children cement their knowledge, develop a lifelong love for learning and build a variety of skills to enhance their future success. When the children enter the final year of the Kindergarten program, they have already mastered numerous skills and learning concepts and become independent learners. The Kindergarten children develop an independent learning style to increase their ever increasing aptitudes and knowledge of the academic areas and complete various extensions of work with the Montessori materials and thus serve as role models to the younger children.
In your search for an education system that provides a strong academic foundation for your child, you have initiated the process of investing in your child’s future. As a parent, you want your child to be educated in an environment where their intellectual ability and self-esteem grow hand in hand, where imagination and curiosity are cultivated, where thinking and competency flourish and where student learn to respect all culture and people. When you invest in a Montessori education, you endow your children with a lifelong love of learning. We are committed to providing a quality standard in our educational program.
The classroom environment is a child centered prepared environment that follows the child’s natural developmental process of learning. The teachers play the role of a keen observer to create an enriching environment for the children.
Concepts are introduced in a concrete hands on manner with the Montessori materials. Children are introduced to the “Practical Life Exercises” that enables them to function independently in their environment. In the area of “Sensorial” they are made aware of their senses and introduced formally to dimensions of matter, colors and shapes. In “Language” direct and indirect lessons are given to introduce, enrich and master language acquisition. In “Mathematics” the children are introduced to the world of numerals and its correlations and operations. The child is introduced to the world around him in the form of “Culture” and the child’s innate curiosity and sense of wonder is enhanced through books, music and hands on projects.
We want to enrich our program with a number of rewarding/enriching experiences. Numerous “In house” events are planned regularly to create a holistic experience for the children in our care.
The children have an option of bringing a home lunch or buying the school hot lunch (vegetarian or non-vegetarian option) every month. Please follow up with the administrator for more details and a sample lunch menu. DMS reserves the right to change vendors during the school year.
The child between 3 ½ to 5 years of age will go to the nap room at 1:00pm. The children are encouraged to lie down in their cot until 2:45pm.
The child will be eligible for the Kindergarten program if the child is 5 years by October 31st of the school year. Any long extended vacation/absences may affect the Kindergarten student from graduating the same year. If the child’s birthday falls after October 31st they will work in the Kindergarten class, but will graduate from the Kindergarten program the following year.
